From Jharkhand, India, Rekha Rana did her B.F.A & M.F.A in Creative Painting in 1999 followed by a PhD on 'Impact of folk painting on Indian contemporary paintings' in 2008 from Banaras Hindu University, India. Rekha has done six solo shows at Jahangir art gallery, Museum Art Gallery and Hotel Taj Ganges. She has also exhibited at more than 35 group shows in Germany, Mauritius and various Indian cities.
Rekha was awarded a B.H.U. gold medal in 1997 in B.F.A, a National Talent Search Scholarship (CCRT, Govt. of India) in 1991-1996, a Merit scholarship of B.H.U. in B.F.A. and M.F.A from 1993-99, a B.H.U Research fellowship in 2001-03, a Lalit Kala Academi grant for solo show 2002, U.P. state Lalit Kala Academi scholarship 2003-04, and in 2004 was nominated for the Common wealth Scholarship in the U.K. by Min. of H.R.D, Govt. of India. Rekha was consecutively nominated for the Indo-Chinese cultural exchange Scholarship program by Ministry of H.R.D - Govt. of India in 2004 and 2005. She has attended more than fifteen workshops and currently lives and works in Mumbai.
